Different styles for different people!
I had a woman come into the store today to try on a pair of Z-CoiL's. Her friend was with her who raved about the Z-CoiL's and they had similar issues. She tried on the Freedom 2000's and walked around for quite some time and decided that although her back felt better, her foot felt a little constrained, so she was not going to purchase them. I talked her into trying a pair of the CloudWalkers on, and she was amazed at the difference in the feeling of the two shoes! She felt less constrained and more room for her toes, so she purchased those instead.
Many people will come in with a certain style in mind and are not willing to try anything else. The thing about shoes is that different styles fit people's feet differently. For instance, a Freedom 2000 will fit a narrow foot better since it laces down further than the CloudWalker and you can get better support in the front of the foot. On the reverse side, a narrow foot does not do well in the clog because the opening is fairly set in it's size and made to accommodate a higher instep.
The point is, don't be afraid to "step out of your box" and try some new style that you would not normally wear. You would be surprised to see how different the various styles will fit your foot!

THE WALL STREET JOURNAL: Lending Support to Sore Soles
The Shoe Box Blog: THE WALL STREET JOURNAL: Lending Support to Sore Soles: 'A spring in your step is one thing. A spring in your shoe is another. But the makers of the Z-Coil shoe promise that their curious-looking footwear brings immediate relief from heel spurs, arthritis pain and other ailments that dog people's dogs.
With an exposed steel spring glued to the heel, Z-Coil shoes are designed to provide extreme cushioning. In addition to the spring, Z-Coils contain a plate system dubbed the Z-orthotic, which can be adjusted to correct for gait problems such as overpronation, which occurs when people roll their feet inward as they walk. Z-Coil Footwear says this combination of stability and shock absorption not only eases pain but also helps heal and prevent nagging conditions such as plantar fasciitis, which affects the arch.
An estimated 75% of Americans will experience foot problems at some time in their lives, according to the American Podiatric Medical Association, and millions suffer from knee, ankle and back ailments. Z-Coils are billed as a therapeutic solution. Available in several models, including running sneakers, hiking boots and clogs, they're sold only at authorized dealers, and the price ranges from $150 to $260 per pair.
The quirky footwear was born in the 1980s, when inventor Al Gallegos, a heavy runner at the time, had a butcher slice apart his shoes so he could glue a spring inside to relieve his chronic heel pain. After years of research and testing, his company started retailing the Z-Coils in 2000 and expects to sell 130,000 pairs in fiscal year 2004.

Before I discovered Z-CoiL, I spent $$$$$$ on shoes trying to find something comfortable to work in. I am a licensed Certified Surgical Assistant working in the operating room ten hours a day, and had to change shoes three times within that period.
My legs and back hurt so badly that I saw two nurologists and had various tests to determine the cause of the pain. Finding no definite cause, I was treated with medication for comfort (which I no longer have to take regularly).
Z-CoiL shoes do not rectify any medical condition but certainly prevents leg and back pain caused by standing and walking for long periods of time.
On a scale of one to ten, I rate Z-CoiL shoes a 9.5! Thank you Bill Workman for introducing me to Z-CoiL and thank you Vicky and the other Cra-Z-Coil staff for patiently working with me to provide a good comfortable fit.

Question for Z-COiL Owners...
I have talked to many owners of Z-CoiL's and I am trying to get a feel for what your doctor's opinion of Z-CoiL's is...
We have some doctors that totally believe in the product and refer people regularly, because they know that it is a non-invasive method to provide relief.
We have other doctors that think it is a fad (7 years and growing is not a fad!) They don't believe in the product or feel threatened that we will take business away.
What does your doctor believe? You can either post here or email me at caesar@ez-shoes.com.

Exploring options??
I had a woman come into the store last week with bilateral heel spurs. We knew she was headed towards our store as she limped out in the parking lot... In the store, she looked at the styles, the open coils, and the price and was concerned about all three. We explained the shoes to her and got a pair on her feet.
After about 15 minutes walking around the store, she was not limping, and her heel pain was much less. She sat down and said that she needed to explore her options, so we took the footwear off of her and limped out of the store.
Three days later, she came back in to the store and purchased a pair of Z-CoiL's. She said that she realized that there were no options! We knew she would be back!

Another success story!
We had a customer come into our store today who purchased a pair of Z-CoiL's about one month ago. She was on a cane when she came into our store and had two main issues. One was foot drop, which is a nerve and/or muscle disorder that affects the patient's ability to raise their foot at the ankle. This led to issues with her hip and back, since she favored one side of her body, causing pain.
Today, she was not using her cane at all and was walking without limping! It was an incredible difference from the first time that we saw her. Not only was she no longer in pain, but the spring action of the coil and the rocker sole was making her walk more smoothly. She was very excited and told me of another gentleman whom she referred into another store for Z-CoiL's. He weighed 350 pounds, and basically never left the house since it was such a struggle to walk. Last week, he was at a meeting that he hadn't been able to attend for years and was so much happier. He is now committed to take off some of the weight since he can walk again!
It sure feels good to know that we are out there changing people's lives, not only from a physical, pain-free perspective, but the overall quality of life!

Z-CoiL® Footwear Reports Record $10.8 Million in Sales!
(Albuquerque, New Mexico) - Poised on the edge of a footwear revolution, Z-CoiL® Footwear continues to experience record setting growth as it sets another annual sales record.
Z-Tech, Inc., dba Z-CoiL Footwear, reports record audited net sales of $10,843,824 for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2004. This figure represents a 69.5 percent increase over the $6,398,762 in net sales reported for the previous fiscal year. Net income for the year ended June 30, 2004 was $1,027,667 compared to $1,207,797 for the prior year.
"The sales growth and net income reported this year are extremely gratifying in view of several initiatives the company undertook during the year. We've made some bold moves to create a solid foundation for future growth," says Z-Tech CEO and President Andrés Gallegos.
These initiatives included not accepting new dealers since February 2004 in an effort to create a stronger and more nationally consistent dealer network, the purchase of new facilities, the expansion of our dealer training facilities, an increase in corporate staff to support the dealer network, and the purchase and implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning computer software system.
"This sales growth is continuing into the new fiscal year, as we set a new monthly record in July 2004," Gallegos adds. "Our net sales for the month exceeded $1.7 million for the first time in the company's history"
. Z-Tech has 200 authorized dealers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Rapid dealer expansion during 2002 and 2003 required examination of Z-Tech's support network to those dealers.
"We are currently revamping our dealer service and training program to provide exemplary customer service to our existing and new dealers," Gallegos says. "This will allow us to build stronger nationwide consistency in product delivery and customer service."
Z-Tech's growth has also been evident in facility and staffing needs. During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2004 the company has increased its internal staff by 87%, bringing on top talent to strengthen the support infrastructure for dealers. To accommodate the growth in personnel, Z-Tech acquired a new 11,274 square foot office facility last November in southeast Albuquerque.
In May 2004, Z-Tech's distribution center was also moved to a 25,330 square foot facility, almost doubling its previous capacity, in order to keep up with a growing demand for product. Through June 30, 2004, more than 250,000 pairs of Z-CoiLs have been sold.
Z-CoiL footwear is specially engineered to relieve foot, leg and back pain and is gaining strong brand loyalty nationwide. "The uniqueness of the footwear, coupled with our commitment and attention to customers is what sets us apart," Gallegos says. "We have fiercely devoted customers who are creating demand through their incredible life-changing Z-CoiL experiences."

Soreness from Z-CoiL's?
We had a customer come in this week complaining about some soreness in the calves and thighs after wearing her Z-CoiL's for 2 days. Her comment was that they are supposed to take away pain not cause pain! And that's exactly what they are designed for!
One of the benefits that Z-CoiL's have is that they can improve your posture. The footwear supports you better under your skeletal system, so this can tilt your hips a little forward and straighten up your upper torso. Overall, this is good, because your upper body is better supported over your hips and legs, taking stress off of the lower back... Of course, this also means that if your posture is bad, you can feel a bit of muscle soreness in the legs and occasionally the lower back until you get more used to the new stance.
If you do start getting a little sore, then take the Z-CoiL's off for a few hours and go back to your other shoes. Just keep repeating this process until you have adjusted and the soreness has subsided.

Not just shoes!
Here in the store, we try not to refer to Z-CoiL's as shoes... but footwear! You might think there is not much of a difference, but there is. Normally, a shoe is a piece of rubber with leather slapped around it to put on your foot. Z-CoiL's are much more than that. They are more of an orthopedic device. There are "moving parts" so to speak, and therefore require a little more care and attention.
You have to understand, that just like your automobile, things can "break" under stress, depending on your usage. We occasionally have the rubber heel come loose, which can be easily glued back on. Sometimes, the screw will come loose, requiring tightening with a phillips screwdriver. Either of these things can be corrected easily by our staff, or if you care to, you can do it yourself.
With proper care, Z-CoiL's will last a lot longer than most other shoes, making the investment in your well being worth every cent!

Diabetic Neuropathy
I had a customer come into the store today who had purchased a pair of Z-CoiL's about one month ago in Reno, NV. He had suffered from diabetic neuropathy and sciatica. While having a massage, the masseuse told him of Z-CoiL's and he immediately went and purchased his first pair.
He was totally amazed! After just an hour of wearing the footwear, his foot pain was almost gone and his sciatica was gone also... He has been able to exercise more and has lost 12 pounds in the last month. He was ecstatic and came in to purchase a second pair.
Neuropathy is caused by functional disturbances in the peripheral nervous system. We see many diabetics who suffer from this condition. Sometimes, it is numbness and tingling of the feet. Sometimes, the symptoms are more debilitating causing severe pain or a "needles and pins" type of feeling.
We have been able to assist many people suffering from Neuropathy, but there have been cases in some of our customers where the pain is so severe that Z-CoiL's provided no relief. The bottom line is that you need to try the footwear and see if they can make a difference.

Be supportive!
I had a customer come into the store with his wife today. The gentleman had severe heel pain, and after just a few minutes in Z-CoiL's, his heel pain was reduced by over 50%. He was totally shocked at how good he felt!
Did he buy the shoes? NO!!
The reason? His wife thought they were "too ugly" and said that she would not be seen with him if he wore Z-CoiL's! He thought she was kidding, but when she stormed out of the store, he knew she was serious.
Unbelievable... Personally, I don't consider them ugly... and we prefer to call them unique!
If something works to put your loved one on the road to a normal, pain-free life, be supportive! After all, as we have witnessed in many, many cases, when a person is out of pain, they are happier, more full of energy, and the whole family relationship changes for the better.

Yosemite without a major issue!
I just had one of our retired customers come in the store who had just completed her very first backpacking trip at Yosemite! She hiked for 5 days over the rugged mountains at Yosemite, covering over 35 miles in a pair of Freedom 2000's. She said that there were a couple of times that she did feel a little tired near the end of the day, but the only soreness she had was in her thighs from the uphill and downhill climbs. Not bad for someone who has some serious foot problems! She did get a blister at the end of the 5th day and we have now adjusted her shoe to hopefully prevent that from happening in the future.
She was very excited, and as usual, the Z-CoiL's mad a big hit with the other hikers. For her next trip, she is planning to tackle Half Dome in Yosemite!

Z-CoiL's help tackle 3 days at Disneyland!
I received a note from one of our customers, who just spent three days at Disneyland. Here's what he had to say:
"Speaking of Disneyland we certainly gave our Z-Coils a good test and work out over the 3 full days we spent there in the theme parks. In the past we usually were pretty worn out and dragging our heels by the end of the first day. Then on the morning of the second day our feet would protest as we subjected them to more walking. But I must say that both my wife and I marveled at how relaxed our feet were after 12 hours of repeated walking throughout our first day at the parks.
Since my doctors diagnosis of having plantar fasciitis, a trip with so much walking would prove to be a very painful experience even with the first day. It prompted me to look for relief from a foot specialist who gave me painful injections into my heels and only gave me temporary relief. But since using my Z-Coils I no longer see the foot specialist and walk a much more pain free life.
With this trip I had absolutely no pain. When I got up the morning of my second day of vacation, my first steps after getting out of bed were pain free. This was not the case in the past before buying my first pair of Z-Coils. I had no pain or fatigue what so ever this trip because of my Z-Coil Men’s Sandals which I used primarily during this trip. "
Once again, Z-CoiL's have helped someone lead a normal, pain-free life!

Recovering from knee surgery?
We had a gentleman come into the store yesterday who had knee surgery 14 days ago. He was on two crutches and was favoring his knee significantly. He had been referred by his physical therapist who told him he owed it to himself to at least try the footwear, no matter what they looked like.
After putting a pair of shoes on his feet, he stood up and was amazed. He walked a little bit on two crutches then decided he didn't need both of them, and put one down. He continued to walk with less of a limp and significantly less pain!
By taking the shock off of the knee that is recovering, the pain was diminished and the knee will have a better chance to recover, alleviating some of the tenderness and inflammation.
So, keep us in mind if find yourself in this situation!

So, keep us in mind if find yourself in this situation!

Free Z-CoiL's given away in record time!
We just gave another pair of Z-CoiL Footwear away this week to one of our customers who purchased her first pair in July! In two short months, she was able to generate enough interest among her friends and co-workers to send in 10 referrals that purchased various styles of Z-CoiL's! That's 10 more people that are free of pain...
Vicki, who is in the medical profession, now owns 3 pair and is working on her fourth!
Great job, Vickie!

Customer's first experience!
One of our customers came into the store on Saturday to buy a second pair of Z-CoiL's because they had helped her knees and back so much. We happened to have a lot of people in the store at the time, some returning and some new customers. Of course, when this happens, everyone becomes instant friends, because they all have something in common... pain!
She began telling a first time customer of the day that she visited our store. I had just put a pair of Z-CoiL's on another first time customer who had severe arthritis of the hips and knees and then proceeded to put a pair on her. The woman who had severe arthritis began walking around the store. After just a few minutes of walking, her husband noticed that she was not limping anymore. She responded that even better than that, her pain was almost gone! She began to get tears in her eyes as she walked around. Next thing you know, the first woman, who was also walking around, had tears in her eyes because she was experiencing less pain also! Needless to say, we had a couple of converts to our Z-CoiL Family!
This is not to say that they are miracles for everyone, but since I have opened this store, I do believe in miracles more that I ever did before!
