Different styles for different people!

I had a woman come into the store today to try on a pair of Z-CoiL's. Her friend was with her who raved about the Z-CoiL's and they had similar issues. She tried on the Freedom 2000's and walked around for quite some time and decided that although her back felt better, her foot felt a little constrained, so she was not going to purchase them. I talked her into trying a pair of the CloudWalkers on, and she was amazed at the difference in the feeling of the two shoes! She felt less constrained and more room for her toes, so she purchased those instead.

Many people will come in with a certain style in mind and are not willing to try anything else. The thing about shoes is that different styles fit people's feet differently. For instance, a Freedom 2000 will fit a narrow foot better since it laces down further than the CloudWalker and you can get better support in the front of the foot. On the reverse side, a narrow foot does not do well in the clog because the opening is fairly set in it's size and made to accommodate a higher instep.

The point is, don't be afraid to "step out of your box" and try some new style that you would not normally wear. You would be surprised to see how different the various styles will fit your foot!

THE WALL STREET JOURNAL: Lending Support to Sore Soles

The Shoe Box Blog: THE WALL STREET JOURNAL: Lending Support to Sore Soles: 'A spring in your step is one thing. A spring in your shoe is another. But the makers of the Z-Coil shoe promise that their curious-looking footwear brings immediate relief from heel spurs, arthritis pain and other ailments that dog people's dogs.

With an exposed steel spring glued to the heel, Z-Coil shoes are designed to provide extreme cushioning. In addition to the spring, Z-Coils contain a plate system dubbed the Z-orthotic, which can be adjusted to correct for gait problems such as overpronation, which occurs when people roll their feet inward as they walk. Z-Coil Footwear says this combination of stability and shock absorption not only eases pain but also helps heal and prevent nagging conditions such as plantar fasciitis, which affects the arch.

An estimated 75% of Americans will experience foot problems at some time in their lives, according to the American Podiatric Medical Association, and millions suffer from knee, ankle and back ailments. Z-Coils are billed as a therapeutic solution. Available in several models, including running sneakers, hiking boots and clogs, they're sold only at authorized dealers, and the price ranges from $150 to $260 per pair.

The quirky footwear was born in the 1980s, when inventor Al Gallegos, a heavy runner at the time, had a butcher slice apart his shoes so he could glue a spring inside to relieve his chronic heel pain. After years of research and testing, his company started retailing the Z-Coils in 2000 and expects to sell 130,000 pairs in fiscal year 2004.

Testimonials from satisfied customers are posted on the zcoil.com Web site -- but the company also points to evide"

Before I discovered Z-CoiL, I spent $$$$$$ on shoes trying to find something comfortable to work in. I am a licensed Certified Surgical Assistant working in the operating room ten hours a day, and had to change shoes three times within that period.

My legs and back hurt so badly that I saw two nurologists and had various tests to determine the cause of the pain. Finding no definite cause, I was treated with medication for comfort (which I no longer have to take regularly).

Z-CoiL shoes do not rectify any medical condition but certainly prevents leg and back pain caused by standing and walking for long periods of time.

On a scale of one to ten, I rate Z-CoiL shoes a 9.5! Thank you Bill Workman for introducing me to Z-CoiL and thank you Vicky and the other Cra-Z-Coil staff for patiently working with me to provide a good comfortable fit.

Question for Z-COiL Owners...

I have talked to many owners of Z-CoiL's and I am trying to get a feel for what your doctor's opinion of Z-CoiL's is...

We have some doctors that totally believe in the product and refer people regularly, because they know that it is a non-invasive method to provide relief.

We have other doctors that think it is a fad (7 years and growing is not a fad!) They don't believe in the product or feel threatened that we will take business away.

What does your doctor believe? You can either post here or email me at caesar@ez-shoes.com.

Exploring options??

I had a woman come into the store last week with bilateral heel spurs. We knew she was headed towards our store as she limped out in the parking lot... In the store, she looked at the styles, the open coils, and the price and was concerned about all three. We explained the shoes to her and got a pair on her feet.

After about 15 minutes walking around the store, she was not limping, and her heel pain was much less. She sat down and said that she needed to explore her options, so we took the footwear off of her and limped out of the store.

Three days later, she came back in to the store and purchased a pair of Z-CoiL's. She said that she realized that there were no options! We knew she would be back!

Another success story!

We had a customer come into our store today who purchased a pair of Z-CoiL's about one month ago. She was on a cane when she came into our store and had two main issues. One was foot drop, which is a nerve and/or muscle disorder that affects the patient's ability to raise their foot at the ankle. This led to issues with her hip and back, since she favored one side of her body, causing pain.

Today, she was not using her cane at all and was walking without limping! It was an incredible difference from the first time that we saw her. Not only was she no longer in pain, but the spring action of the coil and the rocker sole was making her walk more smoothly. She was very excited and told me of another gentleman whom she referred into another store for Z-CoiL's. He weighed 350 pounds, and basically never left the house since it was such a struggle to walk. Last week, he was at a meeting that he hadn't been able to attend for years and was so much happier. He is now committed to take off some of the weight since he can walk again!

It sure feels good to know that we are out there changing people's lives, not only from a physical, pain-free perspective, but the overall quality of life!
